چکیده

A novel cavity perturbation technique using coaxial cavity ruonators for the measurement of complex permittivity of liquids is presented. The method employs two types of resonators (Resonator I and Resonator ll). Resonator l operates in the fre quency range 600 MHZ-7 CH2 and resonator ll operates in the frequency range 4 Gliz-14 CH2. The introduction of the capillary tube filled wit? the sample liquid lnthe coaxial resonator causes shifts in the resonance frequency ant. loaded Q-factor of the nes onator. The shifts in the resonance frequency and loaded Q-factor are used to determine the real and imaginary parts of the complex permittivity of the sample liquid, respectively. Using this technique, the dielectric parameters of water and nitrobenzene are measured. The results are compared with those obtained using other standard methods. The sources of errors are analyzed.

Complex Permittivity Measurements of Single-walled Carbon Nanotubes at Microwave Frequencies

We report on the high frequency complex permittivity characterization of single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNT) using broadband and narrowband frequency range techniques. SWNT suspensions, powder and fiber were investigated and the samples were a mixture of semiconducting and metallic nanotubes. Shielded opencircuited coaxial probe (50 MHz to 10 GHz) and dielectric microwave resonators were deve...

Electromagnetic Characterization of Volcanic Ash

An open-ended coaxial probe is designed for making permittivity measurements on volcanic ash. Reference liquids such as water and methanol are used for calibrating the probe, whose input admittance is related to the complex permittivity by Marcuvitz integral. The reflection coefficient of the probe in the presence of volcanic ash samples from Etna volcano, Italy, is measured from 1 to 15 GHz an...

A Broadband Spectroscopic Sensor Probe

The electrical properties of many materials are closely related to their composition and to their moisture content in particular. For sensor development, characterising the response of a particular volume of material over a broad frequency range is desirable, since separate measurements could generate errors due to spatial variability. A coaxial probe has been designed for measurement of the pe...

Frequency domain complex permittivity measurements at microwave frequencies

Overview of frequency domain measurement techniques of the complex permittivity at microwave frequencies is presented. The methods are divided into two categories: resonant and non-resonant ones. In the first category several methods are discussed such as cavity resonator techniques, dielectric resonator techniques, open resonator techniques and resonators for non-destructive testing. The gener...

Permittivity Measurements with a Resonant Cavity to Develop Human Tissue Phantoms for Microwave Imaging

In order to create human tissue phantoms for a microwave imaging system, a method to determine the complex permittivity is needed. For this reason a cavity perturbation method has been analyzed and used to perform measurements characterizing the complex permittivity of different fluid mixtures. Results show good agreement on single frequency between the measurement with the reentrant cavity and...
